Privacy Policy
Tip4Tab ("we", "us") runs a service that lets people tip the workers who serve them directly, without cash or pooling. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with. We try to keep this policy honest rather than long.
Who we are
Tip4Tab is operated by TIP4TAB, INC, a Florida corporation based in Miami, Florida, USA. The service is offered in the United States only. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at privacy@tip4tab.com.
What we collect and why
We only collect what we need to run the service:
- Phone number — used to log you in and verify it's really you, via a one-time SMS code.
- Email address — collected when you sign up, so we can reach you about your account and, where email login is available, send login codes.
- Profile information — your name, username, and photo, so tippers know who they're tipping.
- Payment and payout data — handled by Stripe so you can receive tips and cash out to your bank. We don't store your full card or bank account numbers; we keep the last 4 digits and bank name for your payout history.
- IP address — recorded with each tip, including the tipper's, for fraud prevention and limits.
- Device push token — so we can send you notifications.
- Tip message — the optional message you can add to your tip page, shown to people who tip you.
- Tip transaction records — so recipients have a history of tips received and withdrawals, and so you have records for tax purposes.
- Usage analytics — how you use the app, so we can find bugs and improve it (via PostHog), including masked session replay in the app.
- Support chat — messages you send to the in-app support assistant, along with earlier messages in the same conversation and basic account context (such as your name, username, balance, verification status, and recent tips), are sent to Anthropic to generate the answer. We do not store chat transcripts on our servers.
- Crash reports — technical diagnostics when the app crashes, so we can fix it (via Sentry).
Who processes data on our behalf
We work with a small number of service providers to run Tip4Tab. Each only receives the data it needs to do its job:
- Stripe — payments, identity verification, and payouts.
- Twilio — delivers the SMS codes used to log in.
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, email, and push notifications.
- Anthropic — the AI support chat.
- PostHog — product analytics, including masked session replay in the app.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or ad networks.
The web tip page
When someone tips you through your web tip page, they pay through Stripe. We don't create an account for the person doing the tipping — we only need enough information to process their payment and give you the tip. We record the tipper's IP address with the tip.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. To delete your account, request it in the app (Profile → Account). The account is then scheduled for deletion 30 days later. You can restore it by signing in during the first 7 days. If your balance is $0, the account can be deleted immediately. After the first 7 days, the account can only be used to withdraw the remaining balance until it is deleted. Transaction records are kept in anonymized form.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tip4tab.com and we'll help.
No tracking cookies
Our website (the pages you're reading right now) doesn't use tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes to this policy, we'll update this page and change the date above.
